I have gotten a CPU temp error message, which seemed a little suspicious coming immediately after startup. I have some follow-up questions.

1) The heat sink fan has, since day one, been my primary source of headaches. It has always been a little loose because I'm kind of reluctant to bend the motherboard in the process of shoving the pins into it. I am assuming that boards are manufactured with this in mind, but how far should I trust Asus in this case?

2) The thermal paste on the sink and the back of the cpu is pretty dry. Should it be reapplied periodically? If so, who makes good thermal paste?
