- Pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: I never got this sound. Never. This and Helmet's "Unsung" are just forever beyond me. I guess you need to take away my flannel or something.
- Elliott Smith's From a Basement on the Hill: I loved drugs, but if I die, please don't let my fucked up friends edit my life's work for public release. enh for Bill Hicks, enh for this.
- Jimmy Eat World's Futures: popemo padded with guitar wanking. last record was better, not great. I still like it when he sings about pills and crazy, because it's like Ryvar's still around.
- Franz Ferdinand: So gay they deserve their own forum. I mean just shy of Neutral Milk Hotel gay, and when you're talking about NMH you're talking about phallic crosses and jesus (plato-jesus, orpheus-jesus, not shotgun-the-doctor-jesus, yet still-somehow-southern-jesus) and oceanwide pools of sperm. Holy gay, but like NMH, very, very catchy. I had to nail two of the data entry chicks at work to get the gay off me.
Next I think it'll be catchy furry bands. Now playing: Conker and His Sticky Nuts playing their supercatchy hit,"Conker's Big Furry Day of Homoerotic Fury."
- The Hives' Tyrannosaurus Hives: The shine has worn off.
- Interpol's Antics: enh. No Risk no Reward.
- Johnny Cash's Boxed Set with Folsom, San Quentin and America: Very Good, Pretty Good and wtf is this doing here? I like how he sings about indians dying for a second and then spends the next 90 minutes describing the Alamo ass-kicking in alarming detail. Dude: a bunch of people died in the most lopsided battle since Carmack vs. Romero + Waffle Waitress. Seriously, re. Lexington and Concord and Alamo and Custer and British Crimean whatever and Lord Byron and Japanese Guy vs. 100 archers and Chinese Guy vs. Tank and Germans Winter 1944: if you stand in the way of more guns than your side has fingers and toes, they are going to hurt you. More 'swept away by flood' than 'battle' anyway.
