General consensus is that a Weapon Support Centre start with Infantry company will beat the Panzer Elite at every level, no matter what doctrine you choose unless you massively outplay your opponent.
So straight away one of the new factions is destroyed by 1/3 of the existing ones. Nice. Though Tank Hunters absolutely kills Armour Tree.
Seems like rather than the doctrines being a nice add-on to your main forces they've pushed them even further into the win-or-lose based on them.
I'm just amazing that Relic manage to change things that don't need changing, for no reason at all, other than to just fuck things up. No one was complaining about the AT gun cone being too small (the exact opposite in fact), nor did anyone mention about Stormtrooper grenades being too cheap.
I wanna go to Canada and see what game they're playing, cos it ain't Company of Heroes.
On the orbital bombardment front: registered artillery can now be called on your allies points, so you don't have to build a million OPs to defend stuff, BUT you can currently call them down on tank traps, sandbags, barbed wire, any construction in fact, so time to rush in to your opponents base and build a tank trap! How do you even fuck that up? I'm not a developer but I'm sure someone is spilling maple syrup all over the keyboards to get that stuff happening.
Other new artillery additions: firestorm actually has FIRE and Nebelwerfers fire napalm, setting fire to the ground hurting units moving through the flames. Artillery looks to be the name of the game at the moment, with most battles being fought at maximum range (the tanks new AI making them move to stay at maximum range, which is great for the Firefly with it's huge range, but sucks for tanks that can shoot further than they can see, or when they decide to go for a big walk and show their asses) with the mobile artillery pieces.
I can't believe they messed up releasing the Beta client either, meant to be on the 29th but they gave the "wrong" client to distributors so it was changed to the 30th and now the keys they're giving out for open beta (yeah, very open, nice work) don't start till the 31st. |
