Let me put it this way: by Fullofkittens 09/05/2007, 6:19am PDT Electric Version starts out with a solo drum break. Twin Cinema starts with the whole band rocking out. Challengers starts with, I think, an autoharp. My main objection to Twin Cinema was that they were starting to get a little obtuse - they went out of their way to make me work to like the songs when the first two discs were nonstop God Hand combos of hook after hook after hook... but Challengers makes Twin Cinema sound like three-chord pop punk anthems in comparison. It's very different from the other three, it's all, like, indie singer-songwriter material instead of fast as fuck power pop. On one of the two fast songs they decided to be all clever and shit and change time signatures all over the place. I'll probably end up liking it just like I've ended up liking all their albums after being disappointed at first, but I don't see myself ever air drumming to this album.
