There's not a lot of dancing, just like Guitar Hero involves precious little guitar playing. Someone around here once characterized it as sko spastic riverdancing to house music, which is perfectly accurate. Stepmania's free, you can download billions of stepcharts from Bemanistyle, and you can make your own dance pads out of used USB gamepads and cardboard boxes, and they'll be just as responsive as the more expensive official-looking pads, so there's no reason not to play except your fear of the unknown.

Though for what it's worth Zseni has a pair of very nice Red Octane pads.
