Some said the game was too short; some people have also said that the greatest compliment a pop song can receive is “it’s too short”, though those people probably don’t regularly play three-hour videogames, and thus many of them might find Portal to be too long. (I happen to think there are many better things to say about pop music. “This song made me quit smoking”, for example, can be a better compliment than “It’s too short”. I mean, who doesn’t want to hear the song that made someone quit smoking?)
THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD BE A HORRIBLE GAY SONG. STOP MAKING ANALOGIES. I would like to hear a song that made someone start smoking. Now that would be a good song.
Meanwhile an also quite gay review of gaylo tears of 3.3. He gives it 4 stars because it's popular.
Some forum dude says: "I read this site precisely because ABDN is a bunch of iconoclastic and idiosyncratic bastards who couldn’t give two shits about general views and normalizing, and instead spend their thousand words riffing on the pure experience of a game, what it means to them, how it ties into their gaming lives, and so on."
I say: That guy has a strange idea that "riffing on pure experience" denotes a bunch of sexily propulsive, almost comprehensible sentences that are full of attitude but devoid of human feeling, and he should instead read Mark Prindle until another video game writer comes along who actually lives up to the ideal he describes. I couldn't figure out how to say it in their comment thread without sounding like a jerk though. And they would just absorb that, they like being flamed or something. :( |
