But in the excitement the authors got their forward slashes and backslashes mixed up so here's a Direct Download Link.
Well it's about time we got a fully functional Space Hulk for computer. This release includes all 3 campaign missions from the boardgame as well as a lengthy tutorial campaign. The graphics are dos era pixel art and apparently they stole some media (with permission) from the previous EA sort-of-adaptations. Pretty much renders Space Hulk SP completely obsolete.
The AI is suprisingly smart. With just about the same rules running under the hood I took on missions that I wiped the floor with in Space Hulk SP and found the genestealers to be taking the exact paths I did not want them to take and exploting all the weaknesses in my defensive line, and building up a serious force before appearing from the shadows and attacking. They're also going to be adding new campaigns to their website every week with new rules and mechanics (like airducts).
My complaints are small and niggling. It seems they removed the ability to move forward and fire simultaneously on 1 AP. The simple bang sound effect from the storm bolters is pretty underwhelming compared to the BWOOM! sound from Space Hulk SP. Finally, it really would be nice if they added the option of timed rounds to really ratchet the tension up.
A Coffee-break-sized "Aliens" with all the tension of X-Com. And it's free. Give it a try! |
