| I was just badmouthing it before out of spite of all the Taco Bell kiddies, but I just got done uninstalling the demo.
I almost didn't even make it past the starting menu. No matter how bad someone tells you the music is, it's even worse. Just wait till the vocals kick in. The original was a great platformer whose only fault to my eyes was that it could have been a lot more challenging without snatching the dagger away from you at the end. I don't get what all the bitching over the combat was about. It was okay, and happened infrequently enough that I never had a problem with it. So now they made the combat marginally better, but made it much MUCH more common, which more than cancels out any improvements and allows its mediocrity and triteness to really shine through. The platform bits are almost non-existant. Maybe it's just because they decided to make up the demo entirely out of the simplistic in-game tutorial, but somehow I doubt it. Even the beginning tutorial in Sands of Time was more challenging and clever than this, and I had to fight sand creatures (that now bleed BLOOD!) in every single room so I didn't get to spend much time on jumping around. Beautiful architecture and level design? Gone. Some tiny ship and boring dungeon with straight corridors. Superb voice acting? Gone. Voicework by community theater troupe and office secretary. Dignity and shame? Gone. Boss fight against thong lady (with ridiculously wobbly breasts that distort all over the place) has her shouting out lame taunts every 5 seconds; non-verbal taunts include turning her ass at you and slapping it. What kind of clownshoe writer did they get for this? "Whoever opens the sands will be destined to die. You will die." Weeee |
