And what's funny to me is that a lot of the problems with his economic theories appear in his baseball theories...

The game is great because it doesn't reward great men (with great bodies) enough for being awesome.
The game is turn based rather than real time.
The game isn't open to improvements.

Also, this doesn't have anything to do with his economics but only a fucking idiot would think soccer players don't use their arms. Those guys are like birds when they shoot, not to mention all the elbows they throw to gain position. They don't touch the ball with their hands (goalies?) but that's the point of FOOTball not its drawback. Baseball players don't touch their ball with their feet or head. Who gives a shit Rawls!

MLB: Maybe once every couple of years there is a horrible call in a game that means something. Throughout 162 games (and it is ridiculous that they play that many) things tend to even out. I can honestly say I have never seen a game played by the BLUE JAYS where they would have won except the ump fucked them. I think they are the best of the bunch, which means three paws out of roar.

I think baseball umpires are about as good as you can get and much better than cricket umpires, with cricket being the closest comparable sport. In cricket, it's common strategy to throw yourself in front of difficult balls and then stare down the umpire while he uses his imagination to decide whether if you hadn't thrown yourself in front of the ball it would have spun or swung enough to hit the wickets. It's a crap shoot. When I had to umpire in high school, I'd give out whenever the appeal was fierce enough even in instances where I knew the batsman and he'd made gay pacts with me. I wasn't against being corrupt, I just never had any fucking idea what the odds of it hitting the wickets were and I think even professional cricket umpires don't, which is why the appeals are so influential in cricket, and thus so frequent and impassioned and wrong.
