Dear /v/,
I am sick of which direction vidya games are going. No longer are gamers a compact community. No longer are games primary marketed to the 'hardcore'.
In part this goes to WoW, in part to Nintendo, in part to people like Yahtzee.
Now, before you call me butthurt or 'BAWWWW', please listen.

There was a period in gaming where the 'hardcore' was primary. Games like Earthbound, Dark Cloud, Counterstrike, and 2D Mario Games.
While some of these games are persistent even in our current age, most of the gaming currently is taken up by casual games like (brace for impact) Halo or Smash Bros.
Now, I say this as both of these games introduced a wide variety of gamers to a 'field' that otherwise would not need them.
Still, few developers out there maintain their hold to the 'actual' crowd. Those who enjoy a bit of challenge in their game, and who, by the words of Yahtzee, would otherwise be 'that guy'.

Simply speaking, gaming needs to stop catering to newfags and continue to care for the real 'gamers'.
