Strangely, a somewhat related dynamic is explicitly modeled in Dominions 3, and has been playing out in one of my current multiplayer games: As the nation Pangaea, I recruit bunches of dryad hoplites every turn, and send them into battle. And the enemy soldiers (men!) are so amazed by the beauty of my dryads that about two thirds of the time they can't even bring themselves to attack! So they just stand there in confusion and awe, each one undergoing a momentary flash instead of moving, which is the Dominions 3 equivalent of a webcomic hero saying "..." and gazing in noble anguish at the perfect woman he will constantly not quite have sex with. Only instead of responding with "^_^" and perfect adorable virtuousness, the dryads just jab the guys to death with spears. |
