| The constant shifts in focus are due to the movie. It keeps cutting between stories. Meryl Streep interviews senator Tom Cruise for her story on the war and his NEW PLAN TO WIN IT. Robert Redford gives a stern talking to to a rebellious student who COULD HAVE PROMISE o_o but is apathetic about things or something because he is so jaded and cynical. Two of Robert Redford's former students in his college debate have enlisted and are in Tom Cruise's plan, their helicopter gets shot down, they jump out and are isolated in an Afghanistan mountain with terror troops closing in on them while the American HQ watches them on satellite (at the end the terrorists end up shooting the two guys in a dramatic scene of muted sound and flashing back to them in school all happy while terrorists shoot them because of Tom Cruse and his senatoring).
