It's not like I really like metal a whole lot. My taste is kind of pop and gauche: Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, Einsiferum, Candlemass, Empyrium (who doesn't even really count), and then backfill with Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Manowar. That is actually it and if I try to talk about other metal bands, remember that I'm lying.
For some reason metal dudes are just instantly "whoa metal yeah I guess you are okay." Like it's some kind of Eagle Scout badge: Has Metal.
Meanwhile, my art disco collection and heartfelt David Sylvian fanboyism meets with naked NPR-style scorn. Other DJ-type disco fags are all "oh UGH you and that UGH that UGH STUFF YOU LIKE." Other humans are all "yeah, I don't even bother listing disco in the genres I disapprove of (limited to rap and metal and country) because disco doesn't matter."
