That last Halloween movie was the best one in years, it would be a shame if people ignored it just because it's a remake. Sure, Rob's possibly a little too sympathetic towards Michael Myers, and he does come off like a bit of a pro wrestler, but it's got all your favourite B-movie stars in inconsequential little roles that could easily have been cut for pacing but weren't, thank god. One scene has Malcolm McDowell discussing nothing of much importance with both Udo Kier and Clint Howard, at the same time! That's like a ménage à trois for horror nerds! There's also some stuff normal people would appreciate, like a striptease and a rape and at least three sets of bare natural-looking breasts that I can remember. And the kills are all pretty good by movie standards, even though you will question the plausibility of some of them (starting with the very first).
In other movies I just got around to seeing news, Bruce Willis and Kevin Pollack's Hostage is about as mediocre as one would imagine. Still, some things you just have to find out for yourself. |
