Everything sounds pretty good except for the part about travel times:
Will there be realistic travel times in space?
Travel times will be semi-realistic, with a focus on fun. Space is big, and it can take a very long time to travel great distances. That travel time can be impractically long. We will introduce transwarp conduit technology and worm holes to allow players to travel to distant sectors of the galaxy without needing days or weeks of gameplay to do so.
So instead of sitting around for days or weeks you just sit there for a few hours watching your ship glide through space unless you happen upon a wormhole or transwarp conduit (which are insanely rare). Oh, and every chucklefuck gets their own ship. That will be nice seeing all the incompetent wowfags who can't even handle auto attacking without failing miserably trying to command a starship.
PVP sounds like it will actually work as opposed to wow.
How will I be able to play with my friends?
In space, you can form teams and do missions together. Space battles will occur between multiple player and NPC vessels. When you do a ground mission, the mission owner can build an away team that consists of other players. Outside of combat, there will be numerous community building features, locations, hubs and events that will bring players together.
WE HAVE A NICE GUILD TABAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD
How about that, an mmo that doesn't punish players for trying to gather a party. We will see if star trek online will pull it off. |

fast ship has lighter guns but is more manuverable, heavy ship is fire support NT by Grumah 08/13/2008, 8:06pm PDT
What makes one space ship more maneuverable than another? Lack of guns? by Jerry Whorebach 08/14/2008, 3:35am PDT
I'd buy the explanation of 'better maneuvering engines' and 'smaller ship mass'. NT by Last 08/14/2008, 8:31am PDT
