| The first level is fun because you do exactly the same things you do in every other level, only you haven't done them yet so they seem fresh. The next three levels - subway station (above ground), subway station (below ground), and subway tunnels, respectively - seem almost purposefully designed to strip you of any desire to continue, not just this game but gaming in general. The next four levels are actually good enough that I don't want to spoil them for you, but don't worry about not being left with a bitter taste in your mouth because the last level - "outdoors" ha ha - is as awful as they come.
All told, that's five good levels and five rejects from Blood II. Given that no one paid more than twenty dollars for Condemned, I think Monolith would have been forgiven for delivering a five-hour game that was all meat, no filler. Too bad that wasn't an option for them :( |
