Let me tell you about Vampire Rain by Lizard_King 08/24/2008, 8:28pm PDT It's worse than you can imagine. Actually, the theme (from a distance) is the strongest part. The gameplay is so unmercifully broken it takes more than just masochism to play it. Here are the bullets I would put on the back of the box. -Emphasizes your favorite extremes of the stealth genre, from having an unreasonably helpless main character in the face of any direct confrontation to having no consistency to the internal logic that delineates your options in each scenario. It's like they've decided to create a chaos theory simulator around your character! -Takes the potential of translating Splinter Cell mechanics to a horror setting, and then forgets to rip off the most important part of the game, which is that for every unreasonable disadvantage it gives you an unlikely edge in the multiple options you have for getting around it. -Uses a city setting rather than closed levels because invisible walls are always preferable to any other means of limiting the player. -Ensures the longevity of your console by not straining the hardware in any conceivable way. From PS2 caliber graphics to load times, you will never be able to blame this game for the red rings of death. I'm not even going to get into voice acting or cutscene quality, because I think it's fair to take a certain amount of camp as a given, unintentional or otherwise. Rest assured they are awful as well. I would say it's the Kabuki Warriors of this generation, because it doesn't even have the bonus of offending other cultures like that terrorist hunting 2d fighter did. I don't know what rationale there could be for porting it, since I don't recall it doing well or getting any positive reviews other than Dave "Cocksucker Gaijin" Halverson's over at Play.
