There is no way I'm shelling out for a next-gen colsole, but I'm toying with trying the PC version. Is the combat system equivalent to DMC3?
It's pretty much exactly the same, except different weapons.
+ Being able to change styles with Dante on the fly with the directional pad is awesome.
- You only play as Dante for 40% of the game.
- No guitar.
+ There is a Bloody Palace mode.
- Bloody Palace is a TIME ATTACK where it counts down and you get a certain amount of bonus time at the end of every level. Just let me fucking fight!
- The only thing Nero's grapple arm does is fling you closer to enemies and performing some scripted God of War type enemy-specific grapple. Not worth giving up styles for. Shitty revolver instead of John Woo pistols.
+ Nero twists his sword handle to rev it up like a bike. Hilarious in cutscenes.
- Like wall running in DMC2, sword revving looks cool, but is completely worthless in combat.
+/- Cutscenes are like they took the plot of DMC3 and replaced half of it with generic jRPG animoo.
It might be the most self aware game in history. It gives you the plot and cast of Final Fantasy 8, then focuses on how overtly gay the protagonist and antagonist are for each other. They seem to have set out to take everything the competition tried to do and do it better:
- Better scripted enemy grapples from God of War.
- Better Colossus of Rhodes fight than God of War 2.
- Better breast physics than Ninja Gaiden 2. |
