Our hosts moved us to a new machine on 9/26, and I did not get the memo. They have a status blog (which I don't check) and it was mentioned there, but that's it.
I would have expected that when they switched, they would have turned us off at the old machine... but they did not do this. I have a ticket open asking if I can get a nightly backup of theirs from 10/1.
I do weekly backups of the SQL database, and the articles/reviews/other pages are mirrored locally.
I feel horrible that MM's Devil May Cry 4 article was not saved. MM, if you have that and want to repost it, or mail it to me (beaver@zombieworld.com) I'll put it up immediately. I realize you probably didn't save it, and I feel terrible horrible about this. I am extremely apologetic. From now on, when you guys write stuff to the forum, I will copy and paste it somewhere immediately so this can't happen again.
I'm debating moving us - it seems that our current host has downtime two or three times a week. Not lengthy downtime, but I notice it for about 15 minute stretches very regularly. I just don't know of other hosts that come recommended. But I don't really want to blame the service I have now for losing a week of posts and bitch about all that - it's my responsibility to keep the site up.
