I was not shitting you when I called it the only worthwhile Braid review. by Worm 10/14/2008, 1:26pm PDT
It's totally impossible to properly critique Braid without being totally ignorant of it. No one can tactfully pierce it's indie shell deliver a review of the game and escape unscathed. Jonathan Blow, the wily dolt he is, has taken the proud tradition of the freeware art game (Passage, The Marriage, that one where the asshole's head catches on fire, Execution), monetized it, and actually added a little gameplay that doesn't need to be explained and that people may not completely hate. Effectively you could take Gradius have tons of Zen koans in between levels and make all the bosses and enemies into figures from Renaissance era paintings and you'd achieve the same effect Blow has with Braid, a game that enough people will love(because they feel that all modern games are boring and not worth their time) that it will be impossible to properly attack.
