I don't see a point to the dog unless they are going to be mostly indestructible like Fable 2.
I have Clover now as my sidekick, outfitted in power armor (which doesn't degrade on NPCs), and she's a good survivor although the pathfinding can occasionally be an issue. When I know an area is going to prove lethal or impossible for her to pathfind, I just tell her to wait. Worst case scenario, she returns to paradise falls and I pick her up there.
In escort missions, try fast travel. At worst, they'll meet you there in a day or two, and in many cases they'll just pop up alongside you at your destination (Big town rescue). |
