Even in their heyday text games made more money from people who were curious about what was going on than they did from people who had enjoyed an earlier experience and wanted to repeat it. Also, Doug Adams fans are compulsive completists (but we all knew that already).
KITTIES!!! SO CUTE.
I send all these cool-ass infocom links to the extremely old people I think will enjoy them, like my parents, who were Infocom completists, and the Still Telling Chevy Chase Jokes VP down the hall. But it gets me NOTHING. Nobody gives a SHIT. I am the primary Infocom shit-giver in my social circle.
UNTIL LAST NIGHT, when I was on the phone with a head engineer at the company that makes our largest, most expensive, and least-functional pieces of equipment. He made a Zork ref and proceeded to spend fifteen minutes explaining it, at which point I was like.... HOLD ON, and sent him a pile of lolgrues. And then we spent a few hours on speakerphone repairing our respective pieces of equipment and talking about Infocom and IF in general. So now I finally have someone to send this new Infocom link to!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Too bad we're probably going to have to sue his company. :( |
