You do know that they have funds for researching actual cures, treatments, and not to mention help pay the skyrocketing medical bills of Elejo's parents?

It would be one thing if they just donated spare DSs and promotional items, but these are actual real world currency money dollars being raised that could have gone to the Red Cross or some other organization that actually makes a real world positive difference. If people want to blow money on non-treatment for sick kids, at least make it the Make a Wish Foundation so little Johnny's last weeks are marked by something beyond reaching level 10.

Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with altruism and everything to do with horrible self centered nerds. Being cut off from video games is the worst form of human suffering they can comprehend. So they get to pat themselves on the back for averting their own worst possible scenario while attending the closest thing any of them will come to a formal social function and bidding on Penny Arcade paintings and World of Warcraft busts that they would have paid thousands of dollars for anyway regardless of where the proceeds go to.

Self-absorbed nerds justifying their $4000 videogame collectible purchase by telling themselves "it's for a good cause" where the cause is only important inside their stunted, self-absorbed heads. Worm's right, they're the only people on the planet who manage to look worse for running a charity.
