Man with blandest taste in the world won't stop trying to download Swan Lake by Senor Barborito 12/29/2004, 4:33am PST
...from me.

I'm impressed and ooked by this dude's fearless blandness. You will say "Zseni, anyone could have the Rough Guide To Cajun and Zydeco music in their album collection." But I answer "And what if the dude also has 10,000 Maniacs albums?" "It can happen. Anything can happen." Three points determine a plane; I give you as a third point his collection in re: The Waterboys. It is comprised of "Fisherman's Blues" (the one that always gets recommended) plus "Various songs."

"But Zseni, Musicspace may not be Euclidian. It might be spherical."

Shall we wander through his desultory collection of "blues, jazz, and swing"? Or would you like to skip straight to "reggae", which despite earning its own genre folder contains naught but bargain bin Bob Marley and one lonesome Finley Quaye album? What does it take to prove blandness even as unto that of Wonder Bread?

"Download what you want and consider others. This means:
NO MORE THAN TWO discs/folders at a time please!!!!
I am happy to give and receive recommendations of artists new and old.
Enjoy your music!
Let me know if you like a download.
Let me know if you have a problem."

"Things I like:
blues, jazz, rock, rock & roll (ed: my emphasis), soulful stuff (ed: ditto)"

"Things I dislike:
jazzy jazz, modern r&b, soul-less modern divas"

He forgot to mention "bland folk rock" under "things I like", despite the fact that there are (I counted) six times as many albums in that specific album folder as in the "blues, jazz, and swing" folder. His classical folder is a travesty of stuff with titles like "Erik Satie: Songs To Relax To" and, of course, "The Greatest Classical Music Album... Ever!" needless to say I've had to fight him tooth and nail to get him to stick with JUST the two CDs of Swan Lake and not, as he would prefer, my entire Tchaikovsky folder at once. I keep bumping him to make room for honest folks trying to get all my Moon Riders stuff.

My vision: this is what K. Thor Mingus turns into as he rides the pitchfork ship down its inevitable Rolling Stone-esque decline.

Anyway look him up on soulseek, username "chaucer" (though he is uninterested in my lovingly-curated collection of medievalia) the filelist is just unbelievable. If I had sat down to write a list of all the blandest, most inoffensive music-makers I could come up with, I wouldn't have thought of half of this stuff off the top of my head, but it's all there nevertheless.
