To give some background, my parents got divorced 9 or 10 years ago in Southern Florida. My dad paid the minimum required child support, but never paid any alimony (even went as far as saying he would never pay one red cent).

He has since moved to Australia and remarried. He plans to visit the US in January, and my mother and I would very much like to put a hold on his passport so he either can’t leave Australia, or can’t leave the US once he’s in, until the matter is settled.

I’ve tried looking for relevant information on the website for our Court and even tried calling them a few times, asking if they know where I can find information on this process or even who to speak with. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or can any internet savvy goons help a sister out?

Disclaimer: Just to avoid any mad goonrush about women and alimony, my dad cheated on my mom for pretty much their entire 20 year marriage, blew thousands upon thousands of dollars on his mistresses, and also ruined his relationship with both his kids for a plethora of reasons. My mom, on the other hand, is an immigrant with a high school education (read: doesn’t make much money) who still tries to help out both her kids financially. Neither one is a saint, but that’s the situation as it stands.
