Fussbett's right, though - newer car stereos handle MP3 files just fine so why not burn 700 MB onto a CD, listen to those for a while, then have the joy of THROWING THE CD AWAY when you're bored with it and starting over with a whole new one.

I know that to you "finicky about music" means "may listen to more than 4 different bands in his lifetime" but Rafiki may be a little more finicky than you.

My guess is that he's like other people who are high-strung and like music. He doesn't stick a few familiar favorite albums on a CD and "enjoy" it for a few weeks; he sticks on 10 albums he's never heard and/or folders full of random tracks loosely organized by date or origin. He listens to that, makes a first pass decision on "sux / don't sux", then (this is key) he will never need to hear the stuff that sucks again. Half of that CD will be dead weight after the first listen, which may not even last past the first song on most albums. Another 40% of it will be dead weight after its novelty wears off by the end of the third or fourth day. That leaves him with a CD full of shit and only a single albums, or 8 or 9 stray songs, which are keepers.

THOSE would then go onto the next CD made along with the next 10 albums as a fallback position (in case all 10 albums suck.) You can iterate CDs this way like a FUCKING MORON or you can get an mp3 player that allows you to trim the shit you don't want right away. PREFERABLY IN THE CAR.

Or he could do the sane thing and only listen to music that you know will be good before you hear it.
