| I had done a review, or a short one anyway, before the Veronicapocalypse.
I'm playing it right now. Debaser wrote: Read laudablepuss's post. 2. It's pretty good with some expansion pack or after X number of patches. This is pretty true. 3. Nah, it still sucks, go back to Civilization 2. I don't see how you could. The resource system alone makes the trade worthwhile, and I can't stand the CivII graphics one more second. 1. Why the game sucks out of box. The version on the original release CD had a number of crippling bugs. The Gold/Game of the Year release fixes most of these. Generally adding Conquests fixes the rest of the annoyances in the game. One thing that I personally recommend though is tweaking maps and resource settings before every game, as sometimes just using a random map can result in some seriously unfun crap. The AI is gay, and in typical Sid Meier fashion, cheats relentlessly. Spearmen can still kill tanks. Battleships can still be sunk by caravels. They managed to carry alot of flaws from Civ I. 2. Whether or not the patch fixes this and whether or not I'd need to purchase some sort of expansion pack. Conquests adds a number of useful units, air defence bonuses, lethal bombard, minor fixes, and usable multiplayer. Multiplayer is still flaky, though, be warned. |
