| I have a credit card from Merrick Bank, and I didn't have a problem with it before, but its customer service basically sucks.
My due date is the 18th of the month. I get my Social Security on the 3rd, but this month it's the 2nd because the 3rd is a Saturday. So I get a counter check from my Credit Union for $366. I go across the street to the post office and mail it. They apparently have such slow mail that they can't get the payment until Friday the 16th (this is when my Credit Union confirms the check was cashed), and don't credit it until the day it was due, the 18th. Come on! Sixteen days to get an envelope from Maryland to New York? I think that's utter bullshit. Well, I paid them by counter check, so it's the credit union's money, not mine. But Merrick Bank basically puts a hold on the check for ten days, meaning that it's credited to my account on time, but the credit won't be restored to my account until the 26th. So basically, my account has been maxed out for 24 days despite the fact I mailed the payment to them 16 days before it was due. This is ridiculous. |
