did you guys like vidya games more before you knew so much about them? by august and everything after 09/26/2011, 2:37am PDT specifically about their mechanics, i mean. there have only been a few games in my life i've really liked. talking final fantasy for nes, might and magic for genesis, vice city is my all time favourite, and i really dug the fallout set in the dc wastelands. i've always thought the reason these games were such good escapism for me is that i don't know a fucking thing about game mechanics or skill trees or branching dialogue options or any of that shit. sometimes i'd go check out a board somewhere for help with fallout and the aspie shut-in skill point distribution talkin' blues was just incomprehensible and i'm pretty sure if i ever got that deep into the theory and mechanics of playing a video game whatever charm games still hold would crumble up and be borne away by a cold yellow wind. did you guys like games more before you knew so much about how they worked? did that knowledge replace the magic with a sweaty compulsion? with such knowledge what forgiveness?
