Answers to questions you might have: Q: What do you know about our new hosts? A: They're solid, so far. I like the web interface a lot, for instance. They called me on the phone to confirm that I really wanted to create the site today, which I appreciated. It was nice that someone took the time to actually give me a sanity check on whether or not Caltrops should exist again, in a way. Q: How's the pricing? A: It's all good, don't sweat it. We're gonna be fine. Q: Have the "rules" to the forum changed at all? A: Let's go ahead and keep them the same. I sometimes read the site from work and while I can appreciate the intense and wholly unholy sexual heat & screwed-up furor a woman paired with a horse or an octopus or a minotaur or a Japanese person can muster, I don't need to see it without clicking on a link myself and asking for it. Q: Are you going to go nuts and delete the site? Are we going to lose our forum posts again? A: I can almost guarantee not. I ran a dial-up BBS from 1990 until 1998 using "Maximus" software and I still have every single post archived and accessible today.The case is the same with my own website that I keep my personal crap on. Keeping history is very important to me. I fucked up in not archiving the forum for Caltrops, although in my meagre defense I was planning on moving as soon as the MySQL version of Pointy was finished. (It was finished on Friday, I went to the Colorado "Ren Faire" on Saturday, the site was nuked on Sunday.) But here's the thing -- after working to get the kinks out pretty much from yesterday morning till now you start to have those "self" moments and wonder what it is all for and if it's worthwhile and all that other stuff. I can go into a very long winded description of why I think this is a funny and valuable and extremely worthwhile community, but I can sum it up better by this: I read Creexul's Live Journal page for the first time tonight.
