| I got hit by a weird computer virus the other day, the first time in 23 years that I've actually had a malware infection. I recognized the type because I've seen it before, the "Fake Anti-Virus" virus, where it pretends to find an infection in otherwise uninfected systems, then proceeds to demand you buy the full version to get it to remove the infection.
Further, the obvious sign that it's malware is its annoying insistence that literally everything is infected and no programs can be executed. This is because if you can execute REGEDIT or REGEDT32 (or an anti-virus program), you can remove this piece of garbage. I mean, what is most obvious is how it claims everything, all at once, is horribly contaminated. Well, I found a free tool to remove fake anti-virus systems. But now I have a new annoyance I haven't tracked down. Some program is randomly starting calls to certain websites. It starts itself then redirects to what is probably a paying advertiser. The site that tries to start this is http://113594url.displayadfeed.com; and I have a downloaded add-in for Firefox that basically blacklists this spammer so his malicious ad keeps coming up. What irritates me is the secondary attempt it tries to pop-up some horribly long URL that doesn't resolve to anything, and sometimes causes a pop-up messagebox to say so. This happened right in the middle of my trying to watch a movie on my computer's Blu-Ray drive. The goddam messagebox pops up in the exact center of the screen, making seeing the movie all but impossible. I had gotten into a nice position in bed that I wasn't hurting and was reasonably comfortable. Now, thanks to some fucking spammer, I have to get out of bed, maneuver into my wheelchair, roll back over to the computer, clear the messagebox, roll back the movie to some earlier point, then try to get back into bed. My knees are in extreme pain if I move them more than a short amount off of bent at a 90 degree angle, and are in agonizing pain if I move around to reset myself. I want these bastards dead. I want them murdered with torture. Lots of torture, the more pain-filled and soul-destroying hyper-agonizing the better. If I thought it was possible to sue them and go after either the spammers or the advertisers who fund them and bleed them of their cash, I would. If I could frame a few so they were railroaded into a death penalty that they were totally innocent of, I would. These scum do not deserve to live. And I'm sick and tired of them. |
