Use of < and > in this pointy.php program by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 12/22/2013, 12:18am PST
I was writing an article referring to the use of the greater than and less than in C programs, and the use of the double greater than and double less than to refer to the shift instructions.

I've dealt with the restriction in pointy.php where you have to code them in the ampersand form, ampersand gt; and ampersand lt; in order for them to stick. Problem is, pointy translates those immediately to the greater than and less than symbols, which means if you preview the message it now doesn't like that you have an unclosed HTML instruction and forbids you to post the message!

Can you change the program so it ignores ampersand lt semicolon and ampersand gt semicolon from translation or waits until the post command to translate them into the symbol? I had to write a correction to an article to explain why I used the same symbol for both shift left and shift right in a C program! And I had to use Seamonkey to write the article so I'd be able to view it as translated instead of using pointy to do so, to make sure the symbol as well as the ampersand lt semicolon and ampersand gt semicolon weren't translated into the less than and greater than symbols and locking the article from being posted without having to go back and recode them, et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseum!
