| Trying to get a new FTP program? Don't! It's awful out there.
FTP Explorer is what I used to use because it was free and didn't harass me constantly about upgrading it or registering it or holding it right before it went to fucking sleep at night. Apparently people think that FTP programs ought to be purchased -- and they're on the same Internet as you and I. Here's a quick run-down of how these things work: The Source Code to Quake: FREE FTP Clients: Not free. The Source Code to Quake II: FREE User-created utilities for Sierra's Front Page Sports: Football 96: Not free. Anyway, because it's offensive to me to have to fill out user information just to get to a fucking download link AND it's offensive to me to have to reboot my computer after installing shitty software like WS FTP (Note: WS FTP might be fine if you're actually using it, but I wouldn't know) I dorked around with XP's built-in FTP app from XP Brand Discount DOS. I was then forced to take a break as it's always Halloween in Longmont, Colorado but sort of an anti-Halloween where instead of you going door to door for treats, minorities bussed in from all over North America go door to door trying to sell me magazine subscriptions. I have a New Orleans Saints helmet visible from my window, and funnily enough most of these guys seem to be from New Orleans! We've got that in common, so why wouldn't I want to buy a two-year subscription to Come Grooving or even more hilariously, PC World? By the time I got back to my desk I was disguted with having to upload anything to anyone. I tried to quit the built-in FTP app. Well, the program had a special message in store for me when I typed in "quit": "Timeout -- try typing faster next time" Hey... what? Hey! No! Fuck you, XP. I was BUSY. I had shit to do! I type 81 words a minute with two fingers per hand! That wasn't the issue, swear. ... But seriously, Microsoft, eh? Eh? I don't have a moral here. Also, I didn't like the peanuts I got when I flew last time. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! |
