Fussbett (9:37:19 PM): But much like he describes, the tutorial showed me how to mine asteroids and I'm like "You've gotta be kidding me" Fussbett (9:37:41 PM): I got the fuck out of there and killed someone in some other game. Jhoh Cable (9:37:43 PM): Sounds like the game is really for faggots who want to be like I'M A RUTHLESS SPACE PIRATE ARRR and they're like 600 pounds and can not physically lift themselves out of their chairs and their body skin has actually fused to the fabric. :( Jhoh Cable (9:38:01 PM): I have an idea how to make Eve a good game. Jhoh Cable (9:38:22 PM): Instead of leaving it to people with absolutely no lives who create macros on their computers to mine asteroids, you put a macro like thing in the game itself. Jhoh Cable (9:38:31 PM): So you can buy and own a ship or tiny mining operation. Jhoh Cable (9:38:39 PM): And have that AI NPC mine shit FOR you. Jhoh Cable (9:38:47 PM): Then you go out and do shit. Jhoh Cable (9:39:00 PM): Oh yeah and maybe have some single player or coop quests that give you credits and loot as well. Jhoh Cable (9:39:26 PM): Perhaps even for the (faggot) pirates in the game who love PKing, you could give them missions based on their alliances and evilness ratings, and have them get missions where they raid NPCs and shit. Jhoh Cable (9:39:40 PM): But of course the only way to make that better is to turn it into a first person shooter where you manually board their ship. Jhoh Cable (9:39:56 PM): And then go around phasering people and stealing shit. Jhoh Cable (9:40:08 PM): And tagging cargo crates with transporter beacons, and having them beam onto your ship or whatever. Jhoh Cable (9:40:16 PM): And you wouldn't have to hit hotkeys to do this either. Jhoh Cable (9:40:57 PM): The transporter beacons would fly and stick to things, like the Goldeneye mines. Jhoh Cable (9:41:23 PM): All you'd have to do is throw them and then click again (and you hit a button on your watch like Goldeneye too) and you see the big crate beam away into your holds. Fussbett (9:41:31 PM): You may have just decribed the most perfect game to ever exist in a person's head. Jhoh Cable (9:41:40 PM): :( Jhoh Cable (9:41:59 PM): Perhaps to balance the transporter technology, one transporter thing would use up a lot of energy, so you'd have to tag everything you want first, then transport. Jhoh Cable (9:42:14 PM): Maybe you should post this log to caltrops in that one thread, so people can see it. :( Fussbett (9:42:14 PM): The developers of Eve Online decided instead that Ctrl+F was good for mining... and that it should take FIVE MINUTES. Jhoh Cable (9:42:26 PM): And realize that I can imagine better games than Eve just on the fly while waiting for CS Source. Fussbett (9:42:33 PM): Yeah. I'm not even finished reading the story though yet. Jhoh Cable (9:42:41 PM): Yeah, you should just have a tiny drone fly out of your ship, and that mines by itself. Jhoh Cable (9:42:47 PM): And maybe you could set up a small mining base. Jhoh Cable (9:42:54 PM): And then perhaps you could go first person throughout your ship or whatever. Fussbett (9:42:58 PM): And then people could raid it. Jhoh Cable (9:42:58 PM): Okay. :( Jhoh Cable (9:43:01 PM): Yes. Fussbett (9:43:03 PM): But you'd have defenses. Jhoh Cable (9:43:07 PM): Then you could go in first person and run around trying to fight them off. Jhoh Cable (9:43:18 PM): You would pay extra for security turrets with better tracking and stuff. Jhoh Cable (9:43:30 PM): But the weapons would be like stasis shit, instead of killing players. Fussbett (9:43:34 PM): And they'd steal a couple of your mining drones, but you blew up one of their pirate ships. Jhoh Cable (9:43:37 PM): And so you put them in stasis and have them arrested. Jhoh Cable (9:43:45 PM): And in order to get out, they have to give up half their money. Fussbett (9:43:47 PM): And the pilot's head sits in your trophy room. Jhoh Cable (9:43:53 PM): So it's like the game penalty for "dying" without the dying. Fussbett (9:44:00 PM): Oh ok. Jhoh Cable (9:44:01 PM): Hahahaha. Jhoh Cable (9:44:43 PM): Perhaps a pirate could try to keep money hidden away from the police and/or government by going to some less reputibablelfb banks. Jhoh Cable (9:45:02 PM): So that if they got arrested, they would take money only out of their known money stash, and not the hidden one. Jhoh Cable (9:45:15 PM): But the hidden one could be like your clan's bank, which could be robbed by competing pirate gangs. Fussbett (9:45:16 PM): PIRATE BOOTY Jhoh Cable (9:45:41 PM): I always thought the idea of lots of players actually planning massive assaults in a game would be cool. :( Jhoh Cable (9:46:09 PM): Like one pirate gang is all calling each other FOR REAL and they're like TOMORROW AT THIS TIME WE'LL ATTACK ENEMY'S SECRET BANK and stuff.
