| Not specific to Caltrops, but to the world in general.
First off - the phrase, "A __________ will kick your ass." This phrase has been applied to pretty much every ethnic, racial, occupational, religious, or any other delineated subgroup of the human race with equal aplomb. Okay, I get it - a Navy SEAL will kick my ass. So will a Maori tribesman, a Croation, an angry faggot, a straight-edge baldy (or anyone who shaves their head), a ninja, a polo player, a Texan, an Australian, an Israeli, a Buddhist monk, a Yanomami tribesman, etc. ad nauseum. Apparently, everyone on the planet is capable of being the biggest badass in the history of mankind as long as you identify them as a member of some organization or other. The phrase has no meaning any more. In the same vein, you could say the same thing about the phrase, "The ___________ are a family-oriented people." Use the same group I described above. EVERYONE is a family-oriented people. I think Sparta was the last time kids were taken away from their families as a societal norm, and that was 3000 years ago. There is no distinction anymore. Finally, no more parodies of the Mastercard "priceless" ads. The very first parodies were horribly unfunny, and it's been a steady and rapid descent since then. Parody is the easiest form of comedy, and parodying a commercial series is sort of like saying, "I'd fart, but that would involve rolling my gargantuan body over so my ass faces upwards. Instead, I'll just make a raspberry noise with my lips." |
