THOUGHTSIt looks bad on low end computers -- a class that my computer fell into yesterday when I installed the BF2 demo. It looks much worse than BFNam at acceptible frame rates, I'd say. So now I'm looking at a new game that looks worse than the old game. Are you people understanding the ramifications of this? I've now set it to MEDIUM graphics settings to achieve acceptable 2005 graphics, and in exchange I get shearing and low FPS. To counter this I try not to move the mouse too much.
I'm shocked at how much it feels just like the other BF games. Perhaps I overhyped it in my mind, or perhaps I overhyped it the CORRECT AMOUNT thanks to those preview videos, but the poor performance plus same-old gameplay have disappointed me a little bit.
Sniping is vastly nerfed, as I put people into the crosshair and nothing happens. I can't tell if the damage is low or the inaccuracy is high, but coupled with the addition punishment of wearing a wookie costume, I no longer pick sniper.
The learning curve is higher than ever. God help a new player.
No one talks on the mics.
Servers that set 2 second respawn times should go ahead and call it a "NO MEDICS" server.
I end up sitting in the stinger chairs a lot, which depresses me when I think about it. All this excitement and action at my fingertips, and apparently all I really want to play is some sort of watered down Missile Command.
