Annoying Political Rant by jeep 10/29/2004, 2:44pm PDT
It's too late to worry about embarassing ourselves in front of the rest of the world or whatever. They need to bring the kids home.

I don't think it matters at this point what party you're with or how you feel about abortion or some other garbage. Americans don't leave other Americans hanging out to twist while they quibble over stupid ideological details. You have to go with whoever you think will get our soldiers out the quickest.

It's obvious that the present administration won't do it, so I don't care if you're the staunchest Republican or whatever, you have to look yourself in the mirror and ask the question: "Am I accepting responsibility for these people risking their lives?" Because on one day every four years, it's not Senators or Presidents in charge, it's us.

The fact that the country is divided so evenly at this point is scary for both groups, both fear the country becoming what they despise, but that paranoia just isn't as important as the very real human lives at stake: what are you getting out of this war that would make you risk your neighbor's life for it?

This is probably the first time I've ever looked at an issue as being important enough to vote against your party over, or seen an election as being so clearly a mandate for or against a war. If this guy gets re-elected it's an indictment of all of us, and there's no defense for it.
