| This new job place has a really good IT guy.
BUT HERE'S AN IT HORROR TALE. It stars a friend who manages a business. The owner of the business hired an IT guy out of the blue, with the promise to the manager that the guy will primarily work on the copious data entry labour that the job requires, but with a bonus of being versed in computers. On Monday the managar walks in and finds his computers have been cleaned up with Windows re-installed, which is ostensibly good. However Internet Explorer now crashes, and the IT guy doesn't care because he installed the new browser he's forcing the place to use: Opera. The version of IE is way old due to the re-install, so the manager asks the IT guy to just do a Windows Update on it and get it back up-to-date and theoretically non-crashy. The IT guy says that he doesn't like, nor use Windows Update. So that ends that. Finally, the manager uses MSN Messenger to talk the the handful of employees in the other part of the building or when he's at home, so he asked for that to be installed on all the computers too. That request was also rejected by the IT guy who told the manager to instead use an IRC Channel! A FUCKING IRC CHANNEL!!! Anyway, he's probably bi-polar. |
