I volunteered to do some technical work for this charity concert thing, I thought it would be a nice way of giving back to the city that's given me so much. So I get there, set up some computers, and then instead of just letting me kick back and enjoy the show, they expect me to spend all afternoon showing people how to use them? WTF? And the worst part was, people kept pressing ENTER instead of TAB to move between fields. MORONS!! Needless to say I skipped out before they could rope me into doing anything else. Anyway, I guess some kids got fed or whatever so it was worth it, but I wouldn't do it again.

Afterward I tried to take my wife to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at historic Radio City Music Hall, and that's when my kid started throwing a tantrum because he didn't get to go. What a scamp! When he was born, going on four years ago now, he couldn't even breathe on his own, now he thinks he can take on the old man! I ended up hitting him with my PSP, I know it wasn't the right thing to do, those screens are f-ing scratch magnets, but it was the heat of the moment and I really wanted to see Harry Potter. Which was sooo awesome, BTW. Thank god I managed to avoid any spoilers, the people who post those things are seriously defective human beings.

MTV May No Longer Be For Me

I’ll look back on 2008 someday as the year I outgrew MTV. Yes, I know it’s been a long time coming, after all I am thirty seven years old. Until tonight however, I had never experienced such a blatant disconnect with music culture. The bright flashing colors, lack of musical talent, empty and uninteresting words falling out of overly-primped and plastic faces all rubbed me in a very wrong way. If I was wearing an old bathrobe and flannel slippers, standing on my porch and waving my fist at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn, I couldn’t have felt more old.
