Archeology at the time it was built was terrible and essentially just a propaganda machine to justify a German nation. I guess Terry Jones thought it was cool looking, despite its embarrassing origins. Nothing stupid was spoken by Terry, as far as I know. But his buddy, the British guy who found the actual battlefield had this to say: "Armenius was perhaps the greatest, in my mind perhaps the greatest UNRECOGNIZED [WTF?! emphasis mine] commander in history." I guess he hasn't seen the statue! Or read any modern German history! The guy is credited (wrongly) with saving Germany from the Romans for all time! Every European History textbook on Earth mentions this Roman defeat! I think the only word for Armenius is "overrated". I got my information from a neato book called The Fall of the Roman Empire: a New History of Rome and the Barbarians! It's not that new, he's mostly refuting Gibbon and those guys from the 1870s to 1940s. I, uh, think it's by a British guy. (JERK)[/quote]
