It's hard to take the strip seriously for more than a few pages in a row, because it's so shallowly written and awkwardly drawn, but--there doesn't seem to be much wrong with it beyond that. He dabbles in Mary Sue stuff, but avoids the overbearing angst of Megatokyo or Two Kinds or whatever. He likes anime, but not enough to fill his comic with technofetishism and pensive adolescents. His characters aren't overly sexy, and they don't universally avoid actually having sex. The humor isn't snarky and doesn't try to be cool or clever. There aren't pop culture references everywhere. And the author doesn't think he's better than you are--unless you actually did something bad to somebody. It seems like Mookie is just a sweet, dopey nerd who deeply enjoys justice and love and puns and epic fantasy. He is cute! He's like Piers Anthony, only less autistic.[/quote]
