Re: games that stand the test of time, or don't
I've talked about my love for SimGolf before. I still enjoy it ten years later. I finally "beat" it by getting 18 holes in the top 18 rankings on a single course but that was only 6-10 months ago. I'm sure I'll return to it. I never enjoyed Mario 64 or especially Zelda OOT. Come the fuck on, in Link to the Past I could do every fun thing and it looked good and it was simple and perfect. In OOT I can't jump with a buttonpress and the world looks like mudshit and there's a fucking faeireiei chirping at my shit all the time and it looks horrible and the horse sequences and it just looked goddamned awful....... I'm not saying it was the worst game ever but it was unbearable compared to other N64 games like Goldeneye or Ogre Battle Tactics or even New Tetris. OOT was the low-point of all Zelda games aside from that 3D0 abortion. But, what other games are still fun? Monkey Island? There's not much replay value but when I show it to new people they still enjoy it even though the game came out whenever ago. I replayed TIE Fighter recently and it was fun except I no longer had the flight stick that I loved when I played it for the first time. Final Fantasy Tactics. Tony Hawk 2.
