unions

Older boomers wanting to take everything with them and anyone younger has no concept of how good labor had it pre-Reagan thanks to the literally bloody century long struggle of unions.
No one is old and sane enough anymore to put into perspective how 1940-1980 America was the greatest time in human history for the middle class and labor. No one realizes or acknowledges who made it that way (unions, democrats) and who ruined it (the 1%, republicans). $20/hr jobs right out of highschool with full benefits and pensions! Can you imagine explaining these historical labor conditions to today's grads? We've gone from no more jobs with pensions to no more guaranteed security till retirement to no more with benefits to no more paid vacation till we're finally at the point where there's only shitty hourly retail/temp jobs that don't even grant sick days. How soon till we're back to 19th century labor conditions with company owned towns, robber barons, and private thug armies given free reign to slaughter strikers and their families? Look up the Battle of Blair Mountain if you want to see the end game and what they would do if they could get away with it. There's a sizable portion of the population that wants this to happen, the same people who are giddy watching Occupy protestors beaten down on TV.
