I started playing it last night. I finished last night. Time played: 2 hours
If you skip the story parts, the game probably comes in at a little over an hour. That sewer segment you hated? 10-15 minutes, tops. It's impossible you played it in 5 minute chunks over weeks, unless you were listening to dubstep and practicing slow motion. They should have named this game, "Wait, that's it?" because that's what you'll be saying constantly. There's a really neat helicopter chase sequence over rooftops, but like everything else in the game it ends up being too short. The game is also just one big long linear corridor. Games like Flashback allowed you to explore several screens at once and required it, because you would have to visit them to discover what was there, find items, and then piece together in your head what needed to be done to proceed. In Deadlight you just keep following the one direction you can go in until you hit a dead end, then solve the one puzzle that lets you proceed. It sucks because what they have could have made for a really great game. The backdrops really are gorgeous, the controls are good, the mix of parkour and combat is fun, and there's a neat sequence or two. But everything's so short and so stripped down that the game just feels like a good demo. The ending screen should have been an ad asking me to buy the full version when it's released.
