Paid out at 80 cents on the dollar
[quote name="Ray of Light"]There are two big problems with my end: 1. Kurzweil had to execute the challenge. Except for the million dollars he doesn't give a shit about, there is no motivation to challenge before he's assured of a win (or facing default, in 2029). I should have bet on an awarding of the (Silver/text-only) Loebner Prize, which has criteria similar to the long bet but is attempted every year regardless of whether or not Ray Kurzweil has his ass in gear. This was a dumb mistake and I should have read the terms more carefully. 2. Humans have a better understanding of machine weaknesses and are not fooled as easily as they might have been six years ago. If you'd said in 2008 that a computer would win Jeopardy and drive a car by 2015, I'd have bet against you. And I'm sure a Jeopardy-winning, car-driving computer could have won the Loebner prize if you could transport it far enough back in time. I didn't anticipate this "moving target" problem at all. Deciding I am a considerable dog to win, and holding a couple of extra monitors, I proposed an 80% buyout in monitor form. Fussbett accepted. Congratulations Fussbett!
