It's the same reason there is so much porno in the United States, people watch it, and masturbate, and it makes them feel good. It's phenomenally easier and less risky than the real thing. I think it's the same thing with violence. It's the same thing with basically everything else. Why am I playing Life is Strange? Why did I play Beyond Two Souls? Why did I spend hundreds of hours grinding out a title in World of Warcraft? It's not some big fucking mystery. People have been cheering about real fellow human beings being torn apart since the beginning of time, people should be pleased at the forward momentum cheering about a fake demon being torn apart represents. Maybe when we see real AI the issue of compassion toward computer characters will be pertinent, but it's always going to ring false when we're hating one another over our video game preferences.[/quote]
