Yeah the grind is terrible
I'm hoping that and the "cooldown" for destroyed/damaged ships will end up being single player campaign only and they ditch that shit for skirmish. Lot of unbalanced shit right now: Torpedoes are garbage. Too much micromanagement to set up, too easy to dodge, don't even do enough damage when they do hit to make them worth the trouble. You're always better off going with the ship classes that ditch torpedoes in favor of ANYTHING else. In the table top, torpedoes were useful for their shield-bypassing ability because shields were crazy and regenerated to full every turn. Two ships of the same size duking it out could almost never break through the shields to damage each other. Assault boats were crazy better than bombers. Those just got nerfed though. Strike craft were kind of crazy in general because you didn't need to use a special order to reload like the tabletop and could still go full speed ahead to stay at range. Stasis bombs radius is ridiculous. Bombs and special abilities in general are really dumb right now. It feels more like dueling space wizards casting spells than a tactical naval game. Lances suck. Cannons already do more damage at close range and you can get upgrades that eliminate cannons' drawbacks. They need to reduce normal speed to about 66%. Too fast and pinball-y. Speaking of pinball, get rid of collisions and the traffic jams. In the table top, they abstracted the 3rd dimension by letting ships freely pass through each other. There's enough open room in fucking space that ships never collided unless you intentionally issued a ramming order. ACTIVATING TACTICAL COGITATORS ACTIVATINGTACTICALCOGITATOSACTIVINGTACTICALACTIVATINGTACTICAACTIVATINGCOGITATORSHUGLAHUGLAHUGLA Assassination missions are impossible for the attacker Breakthrough missions are impossible for the defender Multiplayer fucking sucks because of the ship cooldown. Everyone prematurely warps out all the damn time because they're terrified of the penalty. It's like EVE Online where it's way too hard to find a good fight.
