The purity test obsession and niche assholes is what's killing progressives
and that's exactly the problem I have with Bernie. He's popular with that crowd for nothing but passing that test. Who cares if none of his amendments go through because he refuses to compromise? As long as he refuses to compromise and remains ideologically pure, no one cares if he get anything of note accomplished. Every bit of praise I read about him just gushes over his Mr Smith Goes to Washington attitude and mentions nothing of his actual, practical accomplishments. They would rather him get nothing done as long as he keeps delivering the fist shaking tirades against Wall Street and corporations. They are like that "single payer!" shit who honestly would have rather had a single payer bill be put forth, fail, and get nothing than getting the imperfect but much better than nothing ACA, because being a self righteous prick wishing upon a star is more important than saving lives in a less than perfect world. The instant President Bernie bends in any way to try and start getting things done (which is what one must get done in DC), his supporters will turn on him the exact way the "Obama is just as bad as Bush" people did. Again, Barney Frank is what Bernie should be. He did the thankless, undramatic job of getting the most good done within what was possible. The only thing he refused to compromise on was sugar coating the bitter pill of political reality, and activist shits hated him for it. I trust his opinion on candidates far more than Peter Travers or whatever Rolling Stone hack who can only convey politics in Schoolhouse Rock references (shocker: it is hard to get things passed! HORROR SHOW CONGRESS!). Did you hear Hillary took contributions? From corporations?!!!!!
