Re: and that example is retarded, here's a much better one

The main reason the UK voted to leave the EU is because the EU morphed from a free trade agreement with the other EU members into a Super State, remote and all-powerful. An analogy would be if the US joined a free trade agreement with 20 Latin American countries- but 25 years later it had become a Super State which could override any Act of Congress and in which the US was constantly outvoted 20-1. How long do you think that the US would remain part of this outfit- in the totally improbable event that it ever joined? Secondly, all-that's right, all- EU citizens have an absolute right to migrate to the UK (or anywhere else in the EU), and the poorer countries of eastern Europe were, in effect, dumping their unemployable youth in the UK. If Turkey ever joins the EU, their 80 million people will have an automatic right to move to the UK. None of this was envisioned when Britain first joined the Common Market (as it was then) in 1973.
An analogy would be if a North American state joined a trade agreement with 12 states, but 4 years later it had become a super nation which cold override any act of the state's assembly and in which that state was constantly outvoted 12-1 (49-1 later). How long do you think the state would remain part of this outfit- in the totally improbable event that it ever left the Articles of Confederation? Secondly, all-that's right, all- federal citizens have an absolute right to migrate between state borders, and the poorer rural states were, in effect, dumping all their dreaming youth in the developed states. If Florida ever joins the federal government, their yokels have an automatic right to move to other states. none of this was envisioned by Thomas Jefferson when states first joined the Articles of Confederation (as it was then) in 1777.
I'm going to ignore Native Americans for what I am about to say. What happened to them is terrible, but I can't fix it now. Most of the states that got admitted were fairly unpopulated by non-Indians. Nobody would give a shit if Antarctica got admitted to the EU and everyone was moving there. Secondly, in modern Oregon, where I am from, people do hate it that anyone from any state can move here. It doesn't make you a bad person to not want millions of people to suddenly show up in your city, man. What was really meant by the EU style modern immigration is people who can do something. No, millions of Britains are not crazy racist. If 40 million chavs appeared they wouldn;t be all, ohhh, this is good at least they have proper English blood running through their veins. I have no idea why people couldn't make it work in Bulgaria, Croatia and so forth. To the other guy talking about Norway, please note that Finland and Sweden are both in the EU and they aren't trying to leave even though a shitload of poor people can get up and move in.
