Re: Except a lot of people made it to the white house without being caked in mud

For example, Barack Obama didn't enrich himself in office, either during or before his presidency. John McCain didn't use politics to make himself rich-- he even sponsored a campaign finance bill (which failed to accomplish its aims, and was later struck down by the court, but at least he tried.) McCain and Romney had careers outside politics that didn't involve trading influence for favors.
Romney was the son of a governor, McCain's dad and granddad were four-star admirals, Reagan was a well-known public figure, the Bushes are a literal dynasty (Billy fucking Bush is a Bush, did you know that?). Reagan aside, all old money and well-connected, that's my point. Bill and Hill both were each raised by a homemaker and a small businessman. The spin is so pervasive with the Clintons that people compare their wary handling of White House help staff with the more graceful manner of George and Laura, and decide this is evidence that the Clintons are paranoid and untrustworthy instead of the Bushes being out-of-touch bluebloods. Obama is an outlier who benefitted from extreme public regret over the Bush years. Not to mention having that whole Chicago machine at his back.
I also find it amusing that people are so scared of how "authoritarian" Trump is, when Hillary is the same way.
But she merely defames memes and grandly declares the Israel BDS movement (sponsored by the Presbyterian Church) an anti-Semitic plot that must be stopped. I'm not crazy about her, but it's hard not to root a bit for her when her opponents call her a murderer like they're mentally deranged.
